Life Peerage for Scottish MEP

Her Majesty The Queen has granted Mr Ian James Duncan MEP the title of Baron Duncan of Springbank, of Springbank in the County of Perth for the duration of his life under the Life Peerage Act of 1958.

Mr Duncan was nominated for a Life Peerage by the Prime Minister following his appointment to the Government as Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Scottish and Welsh Offices.

As Mr Duncan is not a Member of Parliament (MP) he has to be appointed to the House of Lords so he can take his role in the Government.

Lord Duncan of Springbank will sit in the House of Lords on behalf of the Conservative Party.
