Former Private Secretary to the King made a Permanent Lord in Waiting

His Majesty the King has appointed The Rt Hon. The Lord Young of Old Windsor GCB GCVO PC the former Private Secretary to the King to the position of Permanent Lord in Waiting to His Majesty the King.

A Lord in Waiting is someone who helps the Sovereign with various duties a notably one being meeting visiting foreign heads of state as they arrived into the UK.
