New Grand Master of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire

On the 23rd April 2024 His Majesty the King appointed Her Majesty The Queen to be Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The post had been vacant since passing of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in 2021.

On the 23rd February 2024, His Majesty The King has decreed that the following persons shall have their Honour cancelled, annulled and their name shall be erased from the Register of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Ms Paula Anne Vennells to be stripped of an CBE awarded on 29th December 2018.
Mr Hugh Richard Vaughan Morgan-Williams to be stripped of an OBE awarded on 14th June 2008.
Mr Richard Cowie to be stripped of an MBE awarded on 30th December 2017.

New Prelate of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire

Her Majesty the Queen has appointed The Right Reverend Dame Sarah Mullally, DBE, Bishop of London to become Prelate of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in succession to The Right Reverend and Right Honourable the Lord Chartres KCVO who has retired.

Queen Revokes Former Probation Officer’s MBE

Her Majesty The Queen has decreed that the following person shall have their Honour cancelled, annulled and their name shall be erased from the Register of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Mr Michael Nathan Cohen to be stripped of an MBE awarded on 30th December 1998 after being convicted of multiple counts of possessing and making indecent images of children and has been sentenced to an eight month suspended prison sentence, 10 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be registered on the sex offenders register for also 10 years.

Ms Anne Ganley to be stripped of an OBE awarded on 28th December 2012.
Mr David John Kemp to be stripped of an MBE awarded on 30th December 2013.
Ms Paula Marie Vasco-Knight to be stripped of an CBE awarded on 30th December 2013.

Queen Revokes Former Mayor of Scunthorpe’s MBE

Her Majesty The Queen has decreed that the following person shall have their Honour cancelled, annulled and their name shall be erased from the Register of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Mr Jawaid Mohammed Ishaq to be stripped of an MBE awarded on 17th June 2000 after being convicted of five counts of fraud, three counts of theft, and one count of perverting the course of justice and has been sentenced to three and a half years in Prison.

New King of Arms of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire

Her Majesty the Queen has appointed Lieutenant General Sir Robert Henry Gervase Fulton KBE King of Arms of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in succession to Admiral Sir Peter Charles Abbott GBE KCB who has passed away.

Queen Revokes disgrace’s Stars Honour

The Queen has accepted the Honours Forfeiture Committee’s advice regarding the cancellation and annulment of the honour awarded to the following person.

Mr Rolf Harris is to be stripped of his CBE awarded on the 17 June 2006 after being found guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault on children. He was sentenced to a total of five years and nine months in prison.

New Usher of the Purple Rod

Her Majesty the Queen has appointed Dame Amelia Chilcott Fawcett DBE Lady Usher of the Purple Rod of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in succession to Sir Alexander Michael Graham GBE who has retired.
