New Chief Yeoman Warder of the Tower of London

Yeoman Gaoler Pete McGowran has been appointed to the position of Chief Yeoman Warder to the Yeomen Warders of Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London. The Yeoman Gaoler succeeds CYW Christopher Morton MVO who has retired from the Tower.

Pete McGowran entered service as a Yeoman Warder in 2009 and was elevated to Yeoman Serjeant in 2013 then went on to become the Yeoman Gaoler in 2017.

Queen Revokes Former Probation Officer’s MBE

Her Majesty The Queen has decreed that the following person shall have their Honour cancelled, annulled and their name shall be erased from the Register of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Mr Michael Nathan Cohen to be stripped of an MBE awarded on 30th December 1998 after being convicted of multiple counts of possessing and making indecent images of children and has been sentenced to an eight month suspended prison sentence, 10 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be registered on the sex offenders register for also 10 years.

Her Majesty the Queen Appoints New Master of the Horse

Her Majesty the Queen has appointed Lord de Mauley TD to be Master of the Horse in succession to Lord Vestey KCVO GCStJ. Lord de Mauley will take on the role on the 1st January 2019 when Lord Vestey retires.

Her Majesty The Queen has granted Sir David William Kinloch Anderson KBE QC the title of Baron Anderson of Ipswich, of Ipswich in the County of Suffolk for the duration of his life under the Life Peerage Act of 1958.

He was nominated for a Life Peerage following his service as Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation. Lord Anderson of Ipswich will sit in the House of Lords as a Crossbencher.

Life Peerage for Former Creative Director of the Royal Opera House

Her Majesty The Queen has granted Ms Deborah Clare Bull CBE the title of Baroness Bull, of Aldwych in the City of Westminster for the duration of her life under the Life Peerage Act of 1958.

She was nominated for a Life Peerage following her work as Creative Director of the Royal Opera House. Baroness Bull will sit in the House of Lords as a Crossbencher.
