Twins for the House of Hanover

On the 7th July 2020 HRH Princess Christian (Alessandra) of Hanover, wife of HRH Prince Christian of Hanover gave birth to twins in Madrid, Spain. HRH Prince Christian of Hanover is second son of Prince Ernst August of Hanover, Head of the House of Hanover. The couple have named their children Nicolás and Sofía. Congratulations to them both.

King of Spain Honours British Royals

His Majesty the King of Spain as part of the Spanish State Visit to the United Kingdom, awarded the Order of Isabella the Catholic to His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales, His Royal Highness the Duke of York and Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal for their role in assisting the King and Queen during the visit.

The King of Spain made Knight of the Garter

Her Majesty the Queen has appointed His Majesty The King of Spain a Stranger Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter (KG).

Her Majesty awarded the King the highest honour of the United Kingdom as part of the State Visit that His Majesty and Queen Letizia are currently undertaking in the UK.

The King’s father King Juan Carlos of Spain also holds the honour of Stranger Knight which he received in 1988, during the Queen’s State Visit to Spain.

The award also raises the possibility that the King will attend the next Order of the Garter Service in St George’s chapel, Windsor on the 18th June 2018.

King Juan Carlos I of Spain to Abdicate

In a letter to the Spanish Prime Minister King Juan Carlos has announced he is abdicating the Spanish Throne in favour of his son Prince Felipe, Prince of Asturias.

The Act of Abdication has not been signed yet a constitutional amendment is needed to allow the abdication to take place.
