King of Sweden Names Royal Baby

Today King Carl XVI Gustaf announced to the Swedish cabinet that Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and his wife Princess Sofia of Sweden have named their son Gabriel Carl Walther, who was born on 31 August 2017.

The baby prince will be styled His Royal Highness Prince Gabriel Carl Walther of Sweden. King Carl XVI Gustaf has given his grandson the title Duke of Darlana. Prince Gabriel is sixth in line to the Swedish throne.

Honorary Companion of Honour for Desmond Tutu

Her Majesty the Queen has appointed Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Mpilo Tutu an Honorary member of the Order of Companions of Honour (CH) for his service to communities within the UK and for his role in International Peace and Reconciliation.

Today Prince Harry presented Archbishop Tutu with his Insignia in Cape Town, South Africa as part of his current tour of the region.

Royal Visit to Italy and the Vatican City

Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh have been invited by President Napolitano of Italy to visit Rome on the 3rd April 2014.

Tour Itinerary

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will visit the Presidential Palace where they will attend a private lunch hosted by President Napolitano.

The Royal couple will also have an audience with His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican.

HRH Prince Johan Friso of Orange-Nassau (1968-2013)

Today HRH Prince Johan Friso Bernhard Christiaan David Prince of Orange-Nassau brother to King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands sadly passed away.

The Prince had been in a coma since 17th February 2012 when he was in an avalanche that had buried him causing significant brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

After initial treatment in Austria he was sent to Wellington Hospital in London and on the 9th July 2013 he was moved to Huis ten Bosch Palace in the Netherlands were passed away following compactions.

My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
