Her Majesty The Queen has granted The Right Reverend and Right Honourable Richard John Carew Chartres KCVO the title of Baron Chartres, of Wilton in the County of Wiltshire for the duration of his life under the Life Peerage Act of 1958.
He was nominated for a Life Peerage following his retirement as Bishop of London. Lord Chartres will sit in the House of Lords as a Crossbencher.
